Team India all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy was dismissed for 10 runs after a brilliant acrobatic catch by Aiden Markram on Day 3 of the second Test against South Africa at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. Attempting to fend off a bouncer from Marco Jansen, the right-hander only managed an edge that flew to the slip cordon, where Markram completed a stunning catch.
India found themselves in trouble at the end of the first session, losing three wickets in quick succession, and their woes continued into the second session. After Rishabh Pant fell attempting a rash shot, Nitish Kumar Reddy walked to the crease. He had a nervous start, nearly dragging one onto the stumps off Simon Harmer.
Shortly after, he edged another delivery from Jansen for a streaky boundary. In the 42nd over, Jansen bowled a steep bouncer aimed at Reddy’s head. Trying to fend it off and keep the ball down, mindful of the short leg fielder, Reddy ended up glancing it off the shoulder of the bat.
The ball looped toward the slip cordon, moving away from Markram. Positioned at second slip, Markram timed a perfect dive and secured the catch brilliantly, leaving the batter disappointed. You can watch the video here:
