[WATCH]- Glenn Phillips Smashes Four Consecutive Boundaries Off Marco Jansen In Champions Trophy Semifinal

New Zealand all-rounder Glenn Phillips took Marco Jansen apart in the second semifinal of the 2025 Champions Trophy at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Wednesday (March 5). Phillips hammered four consecutive boundaries off the South African pacer, with the over yielding 18 runs, putting the Black Caps in command.

The onslaught came in the 46th over, with Jansen returning for his ninth over after conceding 55 runs in his previous five. Glenn Phillips took a single on the first ball, and Daryl Mitchell rotated the strike with another.

The South African-born cricketer then unleashed a flurry of boundaries, starting with one to the on-side, followed by another through fine leg. He continued with a straight drive and ended the over by sending the ball past square.

By the end of the over, the left-arm seamer’s figures stood at a costly 9-0-73-0, though he conceded only six runs in his final over. Jansen had picked up three wickets against England in Karachi but remained wicketless against the Black Caps.

Williamson, Ravindra Tons & Phillips’ Cameo Power New Zealand to 362

After choosing to bat first, New Zealand posted a record-breaking 362, the highest total in Champions Trophy history. Rachin Ravindra (108) and Kane Williamson (102) starred with the bat, forging a crucial 164-run partnership.

While Tom Latham fell cheaply, Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips contributed 49 runs each. Phillips remained unbeaten after a blistering 27-ball knock, smashing six boundaries and a six.

Lungi Ngidi was the standout bowler for South Africa, finishing with figures of 10-0-72-3. The winner of this match will face India in the final on Sunday, March 9, in Dubai. The Kiwis previously met the Men in Blue in the group stage but suffered a 44-run defeat.
