Watch – Mohammed Shami Provides Major Breakthroughs; Picks Up Two Wickets In One Over

Shami

Mohammed Shami has produced the much-needed breakthroughs for India dismissing Temba Bavuma and Kyle Verreynne in the same over. The Proteas were reduced to 159/6 from 159/4 and were looking to consolidate their first innings total.

Temba Bavuma and Keegan Petersen were going strong keeping the Indian bowlers at bay, despite hitting the probing lines. Just when things were looking bright for the home side, Shami produced two brilliant deliveries, as he has been doing over the years.

Mohammed Shami pulled back the length by an inch after being hit for a boundary which did the trick for him. Temba Bavuma was back in the crease to defend and he only managed a tame poke. Virat Kohli dived to his left at the second slip and grabs it inches above the ground to complete his 100 Test catches.

Mohammed Shami continued the momentum to get rid of Kyle Verreynne for a second-ball duck. He kept it in the channel of uncertainty and Verreynne for some reason closes the bat face. The ball jagged away and catches the outside edge, Rishabh Pant dived to his right and takes a fine catch.

India make a strong comeback

It didn’t look like they would win the session for most parts but an inspired spell by Mohammed Shami has turned things around. Rassie van der Dussen went early in the session but Keegan Petersen and Temba Bavuma stitched a partnership to steady things.

Just when things started to look bleak for India, Shami came up with a superb spell. He first sent back Bavuma and then followed it up with Verreynne’s wicket in the same over. Virat Kohli smelt blood at that stage and brought Jasprit Bumrah back and India’s ace pacer delivered by castling Marco Jansen.
