India fast bowler Mohammed Siraj trapped England’s stand-in skipper Ollie Pope lbw for 22 on Day 2 of the ongoing Test at The Oval on Friday, August 1. Siraj delivered a ball that jagged back off the seam and hit Pope on the back pad. Although the on-field umpire initially ruled it not out, India successfully challenged the decision with a DRS review.
Hawk-Eye showed all three reds, clearly confirming the ball was hitting the top of leg stump. It marked India’s second breakthrough of the session, as they continued to apply pressure and effectively restrict England’s scoring momentum after lunch. You can watch the video here:

India aimed for a strong start in the second session on Day 2, having given away 109 runs in the morning. The England openers, Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett, had built a solid 92-run stand that pushed the visitors onto the back foot. However, Akash Deep provided a crucial breakthrough just before lunch by dismissing Duckett for 43.
India fight back after lunch as Joe Root leads England’s resistance on Day 2 at The Oval
India were put under pressure in the first session by the aggressive and fearless batting of Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett. However, the bowlers came back strongly after lunch. Prasidh Krishna dismissed Crawley for 64 with a mistimed pull shot, caught by Ravindra Jadeja, and soon after, Mohammed Siraj removed Ollie Pope with a sharp delivery.
With early momentum lost, the responsibility shifted to Joe Root to steady the innings. He was joined by fellow Yorkshireman Harry Brook, and the duo began the task of rebuilding as India continued to look for breakthroughs. At the time of writing, England were 152 for 3 in 28 overs, trailing India by 72 runs.
