[WATCH]- Mohammed Siraj Strikes Early, Removes Yashasvi Jaiswal for 1 in GT vs RR Qualifier 2

Gujarat Titans (GT) pacer Mohammed Siraj provided an early breakthrough by dismissing Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Yashasvi Jaiswal in IPL 2026 Qualifier 2 at the New Chandigarh Stadium on Friday, May 29. The right-arm quick removed Jaiswal for just one run, striking in the opening over of the contest.

The wicket came on the fourth ball of the innings when Siraj delivered a short-pitched ball. Jaiswal attempted a pull shot but failed to time it properly, sending the ball towards deep square leg, where Prasidh Krishna completed a comfortable catch. You can watch the video here:

With that wicket, Siraj further enhanced his excellent IPL 2026 campaign. The 32-year-old fast bowler has now claimed 18 wickets in 16 matches and counting. Gujarat Titans, champions in 2022, had retained his services for INR 12.25 crore ahead of the 2026 auction.

GT Pacers Siraj and Rabada Deliver Early Blows to RR in Qualifier 2

Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada produced an excellent spell with the new ball to hand Gujarat Titans a dream start against Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026 Qualifier 2. While Siraj struck early, Rabada accounted for Dhruv Jurel, who managed only seven runs. At the time of writing, RR were struggling at 39/3 in 3.3 overs, with Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ravindra Jadeja in the middle.

Rajasthan entered the contest on the back of a convincing 47-run victory over SunRisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator, powered by Suryavanshi’s explosive 97 off just 29 deliveries. Gujarat, meanwhile, suffered a heavy 92-run defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Qualifier 1 after failing to chase a daunting target of 255.

However, having finished in the top two during the league stage, the Shubman Gill-led side earned a second opportunity to book a place in the final through Qualifier 2. The two sides have shared honours this season, winning one game each. RR claimed a six-run win in Ahmedabad, while GT responded with a commanding 77-run triumph in Jaipur.

Both teams are aiming to lift their second IPL trophy. The winner of this clash will face defending champions RCB in the IPL 2026 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, May 31.
