MS Dhoni, the former Indian wicketkeeper-batter, is a cricket legend. Although he retired from international cricket, at 42 years old, he continues to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Dhoni has led CSK to five IPL titles, making him a beloved figure among CSK fans. Despite his age, Dhoni remains active in the IPL, driven by the love and support of his fans. He recently spoke about his bond with CSK, describing it as deeply emotional.

Dhoni emphasized that he is more than just a player who shows up to play each season and then leaves. His connection with the team and its supporters runs much deeper, highlighting the strong emotional ties that keep him coming back to the field. “My connection with CSK it’s an emotional connect. It is not only like a player who comes plays for a couple of months and then goes back home,” MS Dhoni said on the Dubai Eye 103.8 YouTube channel.

MS Dhoni’s Heroic Effort Falls Short, CSK Misses IPL 2024 Playoffs

Chennai Super Kings (CSK), five-time IPL champions, failed to reach the knockout stages of the IPL 2024. In a crucial match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on May 18, CSK needed a win to stay in contention.

RCB batted first and set a target of 218 runs. To qualify for the playoffs, CSK needed to score at least 201 runs to maintain their required run rate. Despite a strong fightback from Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni, who scored 42 runs off 22 balls and 25 runs off 13 balls respectively, CSK fell short. They ended their innings at 191 runs in 20 overs, losing the match by 27 runs and missing out on the playoffs.
