[Watch]- MS Dhoni’s Genius Field Placement Traps Kieron Pollard

MS Dhoni Pollard

MS Dhoni Pollard

MS Dhoni has one of the sharpest brains in the history of cricket. This unique quality makes him one of most successful white ball captains. On several occasions in the past , Dhoni has trapped many big batsmen in his tactics. Dhoni has been seen giving his crucial inputs to Jadeja many times in this IPL season.

Once a captain, always a captain. This line holds perfectly for MS Dhoni. Ex CSK skipper is famous for his tactical awareness and he showed a great example of it when he plotted the dismissal of Kieron Pollard with his unique field dismissal. Kieron Pollard has always been a nightmare for CSK.

Dhoni was very well aware of the strengths of Pollard and he asked Shivam Dube to move straight down the ground at long-on. Pollard let his ego come in between and backed himself to clear the straight boundary at long-on. Ex WI skipper Pollard couldn’t get the timing right and the ball went straight into the hands of Shivam Dube.

After this dismissal, many cricket fans were in awe of Dhoni’s mastermind plan to dismiss Pollard. However, this is not the first time that Dhoni dismissed Pollard with this plan. The WC winning captain used this unique field placement for the first time against Pollard in 2010. Later on, Pollard was dismissed in the same manner against RPSG in IPL Final 2017.

MS Dhoni turns the clock once again with bat and guides CSK to victory

CSK skipper Jadeja won the toss and decided to field first. Mumbai Indians had a poor start in Powerplay with Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan getting dismissed in first over itself. But with the efforts of Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav , MI reached a respectable total of 155.

In reply, CSK too had a shaky start with the wicket of Ruturaj Gaikwad on the first ball. CSK kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. CSK needed 48 runs to win in the last 4 overs. The tremendous efforts of Pretorius brought the equation to 17 runs off 6 balls and later in the last over, we all witnessed a Dhoni special where he chased down 16 runs in 4 balls.
