Rajasthan Royals (RR) cricketer Obed McCoy bowled the biggest wide of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Friday at the Wankhede Stadium. The ball left everyone stunned, including the bowler himself.
In reply to such a skyscraper target, the Capitals openers David Warner and Prithwi Shaw gave the team a good start in the powerplay by scoring 55 runs at the loss of two wickets. However, with the required run rate touching 11.3 runs per over, Delhi Capitals needed a big over to bring down that required run rate. They got this much-needed momentum when Obed Mccoy came to bowl in the 8th over.
The West Indian was smashed for a boundary and a six by Prithvi Shaw in the first two balls of the over. Obed Mccoy couldn’t handle the nerves of the pressure situation and tried to do something different and bowled an absurdly terrible delivery. The left-arm pacer tried for a wide yorker outside the off-stump but it sailed at head height wide of the pitch outside off. The ball went halfway between the keeper and short third man before reaching the boundary ropes.
Umpire called this ball for 5 runs including a no-ball. On the free hit ball, Mccoy bowled 3 consecutive wides. Pant finished the over in style by smashing the 4th and 5th ball for boundaries. This over of Mccoy cost 26 runs for Rajasthan Royals.

Chasing a mammoth total, Rishabh Pant and Lalit Yadav put up a valiant show with the bat but it was not enough for them to go over the line. With 36 runs needed off the last over, Rovman Powell struck three sixes on the trot in the first three balls, but a no-ball controversy broke his concentration as he managed only two runs in the next three balls.
Jos Buttler steals the show at the Wankhede Stadium with another century
Earlier after being invited to bat first, Jos Buttler scored an astonishing century in 57 balls which helped Rajasthan Royals post a target of 222 runs. The Englishman now has three centuries under his belt in IPL 2022 and has set the tournament on fire with his fearless batting.
Sanju Samson also chipped in with an unbeaten 46 off 19 deliveries to propel the Royals to 222 runs which was enough to seal the win.
