Double Blow For MI As PBKS Remove Suryakumar And Tilak Rapidly
Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to field first against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2025. Marcus Stoinis struck early for PBKS by dismissing Rohit Sharma for 8 runs off 7 balls in the third over. Tilak Varma came in at number three and played aggressively alongside Jonny Bairstow, helping MI reach 65/1 by the end of the powerplay.
Bairstow was then dismissed for 38 runs off 24 balls by Vijaykumar Vyshak in the seventh over. Varma then formed a strong partnership with Suryakumar Yadav, the pair putting on 72 runs off 42 balls for the third wicket. Yuzvendra Chahal broke the stand by getting Suryakumar out for 44 runs off 26 deliveries in the 14th over.
In the very next over, Kyle Jamieson removed Varma, who also scored 44 runs off 29 balls. Hardik Pandya (15) and Naman Dhir (37) then steadied the innings for Mumbai Indians (MI), who finished their innings at 203/6.
