The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have got off to a flying start in the second innings against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Wicket-keeper Quinton De Kock took a brilliant catch to dismiss Venkatesh Iyer at the DY Patil Stadium.
Ventakesh Iyer opened the innings along with debutant Abhijeet Tomar. He would have hoped to get his team off to a good start, chasing 211 runs. However, Venkatesh could not stay long at the crease for more than four deliveries. Mohsin Khan, who started off the proceedings in the second innings with the ball, sent the opener back into the hut.
Mohsin bowled a good length delivery, which nipped back. Iyer prodded forward to drive the ball but instead edged it behind to the keeper. De Kock flew to his right and dived full length to take a one-handed stunning catch. Venkatesh had to walk back for a duck.

Quinton De Kock is probably playing the match of his life. Earlier, he slammed a century in the first innings, to take the Lucknow Super Giants to 210 in 20 overs. Quinton opened the innings and stayed unbeaten on 140 runs off 70 balls. He played at a strike rate of 200, with ten boundaries and as many sixes.
The left-handed Lucknow batter is the third leading run-getter in the tournament so far. On the other hand, Venkatesh Iyer has not been able to live up to the expectations this season. He averages 16.55 in twelve matches, scoring 182 runs at a strike rate of 107.69.
Kolkata Knight Riders lose both openers inside the powerplay
Meanwhile, the Kolkata Knight Riders have put on 47 runs in five overs. They have lost both the openers cheaply. Venkatesh Iyer was dismissed for a duck, while debutant Abhijeet Tomar scored just four runs. After their dismissal, Shreyas Iyer and Nitish Rana have managed to put on some valuable runs.
Nitish Rana has taken the attack to the opposition with six boundaries so far. He is unbeaten on 26 runs off 12 balls, with Shreyas Iyer on 15* off six deliveries. This is a must-win match for the Shreya Iyer-led team to keep their playoff hopes alive in the Indian Premier League 2022 season.
