Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja recently snapped back at an Indian reporter after his side’s defeat in the Asia Cup 2022 final on Sunday. The Men in Green went down by 23 runs against Sri Lanka in the final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Babar Azam and Co. failed to chase 171 runs after a tight bowling performance from Sri Lanka. Mohammad Rizwan tried his best with a half-century but lacked support from the other end.

A couple of dignitaries, including PCB chairman Ramiz Raja was in attendance for the all-important clash in Dubai. While coming out of the stadium, an Indian reporter asked Ramiz if he had a message for the Pakistan public at home, who wouldn’t be happy after the loss.

Ramiz snapped back at the Indian reporter and said that he must be very happy that Pakistan have lost the final. He said, “You must be from India and will be very happy now that Pakistan has lost.”

The reporter argued saying that he was unhappy as well, and the two continued the argument for a few more seconds before Ramiz Raja lowered his phone and walked back.

“We didn’t bat according to our potential” – Pakistan skipper Babar Azam

Pakistan captain Babar Azam rued poor execution from the batters as the reason for their defeat. Babar also had a dismal Asia Cup campaign with the bat, failing to lead his side from the front.

“This was a true wicket and it is always nice playing in Dubai. We didn’t bat according to our potential. We started well, but we gave away 15-20 extra runs and couldn’t finish well,” Babar said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

Pakistan will have a lot of work to do before they leave for Australia for the ICC T20 World Cup.
