Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fans swarmed the team bus in jubilation after their sideโs nail-biting win over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2025 match held on Saturday, May 3, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Batting first, RCB got off to a strong start with openers Virat Kohli and Jacob Bethell putting together a 97-run partnership in just 59 balls.
Bethell struck a quickfire 55 from 33 balls, while Kohli powered his way to 62 off 33. However, after their dismissals, the innings lost momentum as RCB slipped from 122/2 to 159/5 by the 18th over. Romario Shepherdโs explosive 53\* off 14 balls powered RCB to 213/5.
In reply, Ayush Mhatreโs 94 and Jadejaโs fifty took CSK close, needing 15 in the final over with Jadeja and Dhoni at the crease. Yash Dayal kept his cool in the final over, dismissing Dhoni and conceding just five runs, sealing a thrilling two-run win for RCB.
The dramatic win sparked wild celebrations among RCB supporters, who gathered in large numbers outside the stadium, cheering and surrounding the team bus in a show of passionate support. You can watch the video here:

โI waited a long timeโ โ Romario Shepherd on CSK heroics
Romario Shepherd of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) earned the Player of the Match award for scoring the joint second-fastest fifty in IPL history, remaining unbeaten on 53 from just 14 deliveries, including six sixes and four fours. During the post-match presentation, while receiving the award, he said \[as quoted by Cricbuzz]:
โToday I had my opportunity. I was waiting for a long time, finally got out to bat, and wanted to give the team a good finish. (On where the power comes from) My base and the way I swing. Timmy was telling me to just hold my shape and swing from there as the ball was holding. The first couple of games we were failing as a batting unit. DK took us and gave us specific work, it paid off today.โ
โI wasnโt focused on a target, just taking it ball by ball, aiming for fours and sixes. Timmy told me to relax, and I did that. I try to balance batting and bowling, though today wasnโt great with the ball. Ngidi and Bhuvi helped us through. My mantraโkill them softly,โ he said.
