Riyan Parag has started preparing for the IPL 2026 season with Rajasthan Royals. The right-handed batter was recently seen practising in the team’s training camp before the new season begins. During an open net session, Parag played a wide range of shots and looked in great form.

He was timing the ball really well and seemed fit and confident. He tried different strokes like the reverse paddle sweep, short-arm jab, pull shot, and inside-out drive. He also impressed everyone by hitting some brilliant no-look sixes.

He played those no-look sixes with a straight bat and full confidence, which is a positive sign for Rajasthan Royals ahead of IPL 2026.

Riyan Parag Set to Captain RR in IPL 2026

Riyan Parag will have a very special IPL 2026 season as he is set to captain the Rajasthan Royals. After the franchise traded Sanju Samson to the Chennai Super Kings, they needed a new leader for the upcoming season. The Royals have now officially named Parag as their full-time captain.

He had already led the team in a few matches last season when Samson was injured. Later, Samson featured as an impact player for the same reason. Parag started his IPL career with Rajasthan Royals in 2019, playing seven matches in his debut season. Since then, the franchise has retained him every year, showing their trust in him.

So far, he has played 84 matches for the team, scoring 1,566 runs at an average of 26.10 and a strike rate of 141.84, including seven half-centuries. Rajasthan Royals won their only IPL title in the first season in 2008. Since then, they have not been able to win the trophy again. In his first season as full-time captain, Parag will aim to guide the team to its second IPL title.
