India all-rounder Riyan Parag has shared an important update on his fitness ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026. The 24-year-old, who was sidelined for a long period due to a shoulder injury, confirmed that he has successfully passed the Yo-Yo fitness test, keeping him in contention for a comeback.

Posting a picture along with the update, he wrote on his Instagram story:

“Yoyo,” with a green tick emoji.

For context, Parag was diagnosed with a shoulder injury in October 2024, which ruled him out of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy that year. He returned to action in the Ranji Trophy after his recovery and featured for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025, albeit while playing through pain and with restricted bowling.

He later took another break before turning out in the Duleep Trophy and for India A against South Africa A. To manage the issue, the middle-order batter received an injection, which led to him missing the 2025–26 Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Riyan Parag regains fitness, set to lead Assam

Parag has since resumed batting in the nets and completed a strength and conditioning program earlier this month. He is now set to lead Assam in the Ranji Trophy. Riyan Parag’s return to fitness is a major boost for the Men in Blue, especially with uncertainty surrounding Washington Sundar’s availability for the T20 World Cup 2026.

Sundar was recently sidelined from the five-match T20I series against New Zealand after suffering acute discomfort in his left lower rib during the opening game of the three-match series against the Kiwis. As a result, he also missed the final two ODIs.

Riyan Parag has featured in nine T20Is for India so far, scoring 106 runs across six innings at a strike rate of 151.42. With the ball, he has picked up four wickets in five innings while maintaining an economy rate of 6.72.
