Mumbai Indians (MI) star batsman Rohit Sharma was seen with his son Ahaan following the team’s elimination from IPL 2025. MI’s campaign ended after they were defeated by Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Qualifier 2 on Sunday, June 1, losing by five wickets.

The day after the match, Rohit Sharma appeared at the airport wearing MI’s training jersey, carrying Ahaan on his shoulders. His wife, Ritika Sajdeh, followed behind with their daughter Samaira, as officials accompanied the family.

In Qualifier 2, MI posted a strong score of 203/6 batting first. Despite their efforts, they couldn’t defend the total, as Punjab chased it down within 19 overs to secure their place in the final. A significant turning point was MI‘s inability to defend a 200-plus total, a scenario they had previously managed successfully.

The team’s death bowling lacked effectiveness, conceding 26 runs in the 19th over, which proved decisive in PBKS’s chase. Punjab will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Tuesday, June 3.

Rohit Sharma Falls Short Of A Big Score In Qualifier 2

Rohit Sharma couldn’t make a major impact in Qualifier 2. Opening the innings, the right-handed batsman scored only eight runs from seven deliveries, including one boundary. Although he had an impressive 81-run performance in the Eliminator against Gujarat Titans (GT), he was unable to replicate that form against Punjab Kings (PBKS).

Despite higher expectations from India’s ODI captain, Rohit had a fairly good season overall. He amassed 418 runs in 15 matches, averaging 29.85 with a strike rate of 149.28, including four half-centuries. After a slow start to the tournament, he found his rhythm as the season progressed, helping Mumbai Indians reach the playoffs.

This marked his second straight season scoring over 400 runs, following his 417 runs in 14 matches during the 2024 campaign.
