Pakistan bowler Shadab Khan took a breath-taking catch on Wednesday to dismiss Shamarh Brooks in the first ODI against West Indies at the Multan Cricket Stadium. The hosts went on to win the match comfortably by five wickets, chasing 306 runs.
After winning the toss, West Indies opted to bat first. They lost Kyle Mayers early with just nine runs on the board. Shamarh Brooks joined opener Shai Hope at the crease. The duo put together 154 runs on the board for the second wicket and looked dangerous at the crease. However, Shadab Khan’s brilliant effort broke the stand.
In the thirty-first over, Shamarh Brooks attempted a big slog-sweep against Mohammad Nawaz, instead, the ball took a thick edge.
Just when it seemed that it will land safely, Shadab Khan who was at short third man, ran in and dived full-length to take the catch with his left hand fully stretched. Shamarh Brooks had to go back in the hut for 70 runs off 83 balls.

Babar Azam’s century leads to Pakistan to victory
In reply to West Indies’ 305, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam slammed a century to lead his team to victory in the first ODI on Wednesday. He scored 103 runs off 107 balls, including nine boundaries.
Opener Imam-ul-Haq (65 off 71) and Mohammad Rizwan (59 off 61) too made substantial contributions. Batting lower down the order, Khusdil Shah played a cameo of 41 runs to take Pakistan over the line. The hosts are leading the three-match ODI series 1-0. The second match will take place on Friday, June 10 in Multan.
