West Indies cricketer Shimron Hetmyer has arrived at the Rajasthan Royals (RR) camp in preparation for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025). The left-hander engaged in batting practice to sharpen his skills for the tournament.
During the session, the explosive batter showcased his power-hitting, even striking a tripod camera with a cover drive. When asked about the incident during his first practice session of IPL 2025, here’s what Hetmyer had to say:

Rajasthan Royals retained Shimron Hetmyer for ₹11 crore before the IPL 2025 auction
Shimron Hetmyer was retained by Rajasthan Royals (RR) for ₹11 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. The franchise also kept key players such as Sanju Samson, Dhruv Jurel, Riyan Parag, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Sandeep Sharma.
Under Sanju Samson’s leadership, RR finished third in the league stage, securing eight wins from 14 matches. They defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by four wickets in the Eliminator but fell short of reaching the final after a 36-run loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Qualifier 2.
Hetmyer contributed 113 runs in nine innings at a striking rate of 163.76. At the IPL 2025 auction, Rajasthan Royals made several high-profile acquisitions, with England pacer Jofra Archer being their most expensive buy at ₹12.5 crore, marking his return to the franchise.
RR also secured Maheesh Theekshana, Wanindu Hasaranga, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Tushar Deshpande, and Nitish Rana at the auction. Sanju Samson remains captain, while former India and RR skipper Rahul Dravid was appointed head coach on a multi-year deal.
