Shahneel Gill, sister of Shubman Gill, was seen visibly emotional after Gujarat Titans (GT) faced a heartbreaking 20-run loss to Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2025 Eliminator. Chasing a challenging target of 229, GT fell short in the high-stakes match held at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh, on Friday, May 30.
Shahneel, who was in the stands passionately supporting her brother’s team, couldn’t hold back her tears following GT’s exit from the tournament. Other family members from the GT camp, including head coach Ashish Nehra’s son, were also seen emotional after the defeat.

Despite a tough target, Gujarat Titans fought hard as Sai Sudharsan scored 80 off 49 and Washington Sundar added a quick 48 off 24, keeping their chase alive. However, GT eventually fell short of the mark. Mumbai’s veteran batter Rohit Sharma rose to the occasion, delivering a match-winning performance under pressure. He scored a vital 81 off 50 balls and was deservedly named Player of the Match.
Shubman Gill Blames Fielding Lapses for GT’s IPL 2025 Exit
Gujarat Titans struggled in the field, missing three easy catches. Wicketkeeper Kusal Mendis dropped two of them. Rohit Sharma got lucky twice during the powerplay, and Suryakumar Yadav was also dropped in the 12th over. After the match, Shubman Gill spoke about these mistakes.
“Yeah definitely we were right in the game. Last three four overs didn’t go our way but still a great game of cricket. Never easy if we drop three sitters, it doesn’t help. The message was simple, just play the game you want to play and the goal was same for them, to win the game.”
“The wicket did become a bit easy for us. Lot of positives for us, last two three games didn’t went for us. It was a great season for Sai. 200-210 would have been par on this wicket. Saving those singles and doubles would have made a massive difference.”
