Mumbai Indians (MI) fast bowler Trent Boult got Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill out for just one run during the IPL 2025 Eliminator match held in Mullanpur on Friday, May 30. The right-handed batsman was caught LBW on the fourth ball of the innings.
Gill attempted to play across the line, but the ball hit him directly in front of the stumps. He challenged the umpire’s out decision with a review, but the Hawk-Eye showed three reds, confirming his dismissal, and Gill had to return to the pavilion. You can watch the video here:

MI got off to a perfect start defending their total of 228 runs, dismissing Gill early, who along with Sai Sudharsan has been a key performer for GT at the top this season. Shubman Gill’s early exit is a rare setback in IPL 2025, leaving Sudharsan and the rest of the team with the task of chasing the challenging target of 229 runs to win.
MI Batters Step Up in Crucial Match, Set 229-Run Target for GT
Hardik Pandya’s choice to bat first in the IPL 2025 Eliminator proved fruitful as MI posted 228/5 in their 20 overs. Rohit Sharma led the scoring for the five-time champions with a well-crafted 81 off 50 balls.
Making his MI debut, Jonny Bairstow contributed a quick 47 from 22 deliveries, while Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, and Hardik Pandya’s cameos helped MI post a formidable total in this crucial match. Bairstow mentioned that after observing Qualifier 1 the previous day, the batters knew they had to be smart against the new ball.
“After watching the game last night, it was an interesting change in how we went about it. Had to be smart at the top. From playing here last year, if it’s going to do as much, it’s going to do in the first six. Good cricket shots and looking to exploit width was the key for us,” Bairstow said at the mid-innings break via Cricbuzz.
