In the IPL 2025 Qualifier 1, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) leg-spinner Suyash Sharma claimed the wicket of Punjab Kings (PBKS) all-rounder Marcus Stoinis, who scored 26. The match is being held in Mullanpur on Thursday, May 29.
Stoinis was dismissed in the 11th over while attempting to slog a googly to the leg side, only to have his leg stump uprooted. This marked Suyash Sharma’s third wicket of the match, having earlier removed Shashank Singh for 3 and impact substitute Musheer Khan for a duck.

The wicket added to PBKS’ troubles, as Stoinis was their key hope for posting a competitive total in the second innings. This marks PBKS’ first playoff appearance since 2014, the year they made it to the final but ended as runners-up to Kolkata Knight Riders.
RCB Bowlers Crush PBKS Hopes in High-Stakes Mullanpur Match
RCB bowlers justified skipper Rajat Patidar’s choice to bowl first by striking early and putting PBKS on the back foot. The in-form opening pair, Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya, were dismissed for 18 and 7, respectively.
Returning to the XI in place of Nuwan Thushara, Josh Hazlewood made an immediate impact by removing Josh Inglis for 4 and Shreyas Iyer for just 2, further derailing PBKS in front of their home crowd.
Leg-spinner Suyash Sharma added to PBKS’s woes by removing Shashank Singh, Musheer Khan, and Marcus Stoinis, leaving Azmatullah Omarzai with the tough task of salvaging a decent total for the hosts.
Meanwhile, PBKS suffered another setback as Marco Jansen has been ruled out for the remainder of the tournament. He is set to join the South African squad ahead of the World Test Championship final against Australia at Lord’s on June 11. At the latest update, PBKS were bowled out for just 101 runs in 14.1 overs.
