Virat Kohli’s leadership instincts were on full display during the ongoing IPL 2025 clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Lucknow on Friday, May 23. With regular captain Rajat Patidar playing as an impact substitute, Kohli stepped up to guide the team on the field.

After Suyash Sharma conceded three boundaries in the ninth over, Kohli offered him a timely pep talk. The advice paid off instantly, as Suyash dismissed the dangerous Heinrich Klaasen on the very next delivery. Suyash delivered a well-disguised wrong’un that turned into Klaasen’s hitting zone near leg stump.

Attempting to clear long-on, Klaasen mistimed his shot, and Romario Shepherd made a clean catch near the boundary. Interestingly, Klaasen had just hit a boundary off the previous ball. Virat Kohli’s quick input between deliveries seemed to lift Suyash’s confidence, leading to a key breakthrough for RCB.

SRH Take Control Against RCB in IPL 2025 Showdown

SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) put on a dominant batting performance against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their IPL 2025 clash, thanks to a strong showing from their top order. Openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head got SRH off to a flying start, scoring 34 off 17 balls and 17 off 10, respectively, guiding the team to 50 runs in just 3.3 overs.

The momentum continued with impactful cameos from Heinrich Klaasen (24 off 13) and Aniket Verma (26 off 9), maintaining an impressive scoring rate. As of the 13th over, SRH stood at 156/4, with Ishan Kishan batting on 48 off 27 balls and Nitish Reddy on 3 from 3 deliveries.

Although SRH are already out of playoff contention, RCB remain in the hunt and currently sit second on the points table. A win against SRH would allow RCB to leapfrog Gujarat Titans (GT) and claim the top spot, enhancing their chances of a top-two finish heading into the knockout stage.

However, the Pat Cummins-led SRH side, having recently knocked out Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) with a six-wicket win, will be eager to spoil RCB’s plans.
