[WATCH]- Urvil Patel Unleashes Helicopter Shots To Hammer Pat Cummins For Consecutive Sixes

Chennai Super Kings batter Urvil Patel lit up the contest against Sunrisers Hyderabad with two stunning sixes off skipper Pat Cummins in Chennai on Monday, May 18. The wicketkeeper-batter, who recently recorded the joint-fastest fifty in IPL history, first executed a powerful pull shot before following it up with a helicopter-style flick to send the ball into the stands on consecutive deliveries.

The moment unfolded during the third over of CSK’s innings. Cummins delivered a short ball outside off stump, and Urvil quickly got into position to pull it over deep mid-wicket despite facing only his second ball. The very next ball, Cummins missed his yorker and served a low full toss, which the batter flicked over deep backward square leg for another six, leaving the Australian pacer stunned.

Urvil Patel recently grabbed attention with a blistering 65-run knock off just 23 balls against Lucknow Super Giants at the same venue. The Mehsana-born batter boasts an outstanding T20 record, scoring 1541 runs in 62 innings at a remarkable strike rate of 181.72, including three centuries and five half-centuries.

He was retained by the franchise for his base price of INR 30 lakh ahead of the IPL 2026 auction.

CSK Suffer Early Blow as Sanju Samson & Urvil Patel Depart Cheaply Against SRH

Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Pat Cummins and Sakib Hussain handed their side an excellent start against Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2026 clash. Cummins struck first by removing Sanju Samson for a brisk 27 off 13 balls, with Ishan Kishan taking the catch behind the stumps.

Soon after, Sakib bowled Urvil Patel for 13 off eight deliveries to put CSK under pressure early in the innings. At the time of writing, CSK were placed at 52/2 after five overs, with Kartik Sharma and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad batting in the middle. The five-time IPL champions need a victory to keep their playoff hopes alive in IPL 2026.

While a defeat may not push SRH out of the top four, it could dent their chances of securing a top-two finish. The Hyderabad-based side will therefore be eager to bounce back strongly after suffering an 82-run loss to Gujarat Titans, as a top-two finish would provide them with an extra opportunity to reach the IPL 2026 final.
