The Gabba in Brisbane witnessed an impressive run out by Virat Kohli during India’s warm-up game against Australia on Monday, October 17. The 19th over of the Aussie innings saw a turning point where Harshal Patel dismissed the well-settled Aaron Finch for a brilliant 76.

What took place after that was just a treat to watch. Harshal Patel bowled a slower one to Inglis, which dipped and the batter was only able to squeeze the under edge of the bat to the leg side.

The batters tried to get a quick single so that Tim David would be on strike, but Virat Kohli picked up the ball with his right hand and shot at the stumps with only one stick to aim at. The batter was caught short of his crease and had to go back to the dugout.

Virat Kohli again led by example in fielding and showed how, if not with the bat, he can save valuable runs in the outfield, which may become crucial in determining the result of a game. Seeing an enthusiastic Kohli in the field, ready to give it his all, is positive news for all Indian fans.

India win the warm-up game against Australia

Australia won the toss and opted to bowl. India scored 186-7 with fifties from both KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav. Both were striking at over 150+ for the team. Rahul was seen dominating the power play by dispatching balls across the boundary and setting a solid foundation for the team.

The Aussies were cruising along credit to starts from Mitchell Marsh, who scored a quickfire 35. Aaron Finch also regained some form in this game, scoring 76 runs. But in the 19th over, they lost this momentum which allowed India to get in the game and win by six runs.

The last over saw four consecutive wickets falling, out of which three were taken by Mohammed Shami, who just came to bowl the final over. The veteran pacer replaced Jasprit Bumrah in the squad and will hope to continue the good work.
