[WATCH]- Virat Kohli Scolds Kuldeep Yadav For Fielding Error In IND vs NZ 2025 Champions Trophy Final

Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav faced a stern reprimand from Virat Kohli for a fielding lapse during the 2025 Champions Trophy final on Sunday (March 9) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The incident occurred in the 41st over of New Zealand’s innings, with Kuldeep bowling to Michael Bracewell and Daryl Mitchell.

On the second delivery, the two batters collided while attempting a run. Ravindra Jadeja, stationed in the field, fired a throw towards the non-striker’s end in an attempt to secure a run-out. Bracewell, realizing he was well short of the crease, had seemingly given up.

However, the ball missed the stumps, giving him the opportunity to complete the run. Notably, Kuldeep Yadav was not positioned behind the stumps to collect the throw, which could have resulted in an easy dismissal. Both Ravindra Jadeja and Virat Kohli were visibly frustrated, with the latter voicing his displeasure by scolding Kuldeep for the costly mistake.

New Zealand posts 251/9 against India in the 2025 Champions Trophy final

Electing to bat first, New Zealand put up a competitive total of 251 in the Champions Trophy final against India. Rachin Ravindra (37) provided a solid start, but India’s spin duo of Varun Chakaravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav disrupted their momentum, reducing the Kiwis to 75/3 in 12.2 overs.

Following the early setbacks, New Zealand adopted a cautious approach, with Daryl Mitchell anchoring the innings with a patient 63 off 101 balls. Contributions from Glenn Phillips (34) and Michael Bracewell (53*) in the middle order helped them reach 251/7 at the end of 50 overs.

Varun Chakaravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav were the pick of the bowlers for India, claiming two wickets each in their impressive spells. At the time of writing, India had reached 86/0 in 14 overs, building a strong foundation.
