[WATCH]- Virat Kohli Trains At Arun Jaitley Stadium For Ranji Clash

Team India’s star batter, Virat Kohli, was spotted training in the nets at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday, January 28. The former captain practiced with the Delhi team in preparation for their final Ranji Trophy 2024-25 group stage match against Railways, scheduled to start on Thursday, January 30.

Kohli is set to make his return to the red-ball domestic circuit after over 12 years. His last Ranji Trophy appearance was in November 2012, where he scored 14 and 43 against Uttar Pradesh. The 36-year-old honed his skills in the nets at Arun Jaitley Stadium ahead of his much-anticipated Ranji Trophy comeback, with the match to be held at his home ground.

As per TOI, DDCA offered Virat Kohli the Ranji Trophy captaincy, but he declined and will play under Ayush Badoni. Kohli trained with Sanjay Bangar in Mumbai ahead of the Railways clash but missed Delhi’s last game against Saurashtra due to a neck sprain.

“Virat Kohli’s Presence in Ranji Trophy a Valuable Experience for Juniors”: DDCA Secretary

The DDCA secretary said Virat Kohli’s participation in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 will benefit Delhi’s younger players. He noted that apart from Navdeep Saini, none of the squad members have played alongside the star cricketer. Highlighting the learning experience, Sharma shared his thoughts with PTI.

“Obviously, it is a great experience for our junior players as they will get to share the dressing room with Virat. If you look at our team, only Navdeep Saini has played alongside Virat in the IPL and for India. In fact, none of the players in the team have played with Virat in the Ranji Trophy. They can learn a lot by watching him.”
