[WATCH] Yash Dhull And Yash Thakur Involved In War Of Words

The Irani Cup final in Nagpur turned dramatic on its last day as a heated confrontation broke out between Rest of India batter Yash Dhull and Vidarbha pacer Yash Thakur. The incident occurred during Rest of India’s chase of 361 runs when Dhull was dismissed on the first delivery of the 63rd over.

Attempting to slash a short-pitched delivery, Dhull mistimed his shot, and Atharva Taide completed a brilliant catch inches inside the deep third-man boundary. Thakur celebrated the crucial wicket passionately, but Dhull reacted angrily and charged back towards the bowler. Umpires and Vidarbha fielders quickly intervened to separate the players and diffuse the tension. Both players are expected to face sanctions from the match referee for their actions.

Vidarbha Dominates To Seal Victory

The dismissal of Yash Dhull turned out to be the key moment in the match. Riding on the momentum, Thakur struck again off the very next ball, bowling out Akash Deep. Soon after, Harsh Dubey, last season’s leading wicket-taker in the Ranji Trophy, wrapped up the game in style, securing a comprehensive 93-run victory for Vidarbha.

Rest of India skipper Rajat Patidar admitted that his side failed to adapt to the match situation. “Vidarbha played well and were deserving winners. If we had applied ourselves in a better way, after assessing the conditions, I think we could have come close to the total,” Patidar said. Vidarbha’s consistent performance throughout the match, particularly their disciplined bowling and sharp fielding, ensured they stayed in control during crucial phases.

Taide Shines as Player of the Match

Atharva Taide emerged as the standout performer for Vidarbha, playing a decisive role with both bat and in the field. He scored a vital 143 runs in the first innings and took the crucial catch that dismissed Dhull at a pivotal moment. His all-round contribution earned him the Player of the Match award. Reflecting on his performance and the team’s triumph, Taide shared his emotions and gratitude.

“The last couple of seasons weren’t great for me. But this season, I prepared very well. I wanted to make an impact for my team, and starting the season with the Irani Cup couldn’t have been better than this. So all this evening is for VCA. Everybody, my coach, selector, everybody who’s backed me throughout the season is for them,” he said. Vidarbha’s victory and Taide’s redemption set a positive tone for the domestic season ahead.
