Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore faced each other in Match 13 of IPL 2022. Batting first, Rajasthan made 169 runs. Jos Buttler scored 70 runs off 47 balls. The knock consisted of 6 sixes but no fours.
In reply, RCB had a steady start. Openers Faf du Plessis and Anuj Rawat added 48 runs in the powerplay. Yuzvendra Chahal was brought into the attack in the 7th over. On the last ball, he trapped RCB skipper Faf du Plessis with a flighted delivery. Faf mistimed the lofted shot and handed a catch to Trent Boult at Long-on.
Chahal’s wife Dhanashree Verma was also present in the stands. The camera caught her reaction as she was delighted after Chahal took the wicket.

It should be noted that Yuzvendra Chahal has played for RCB for 8 years. He is still the leading wicket-taker (139) of the team in the IPL.
Never thought I would play for some other team than RCB – Yuzvendra Chahal
Yuzvendra Chahal recently revealed his chat with Mike Hesson (RCB Director of Cricket) ahead of IPL 2022 Mega-auctions. He said that Hesson told him that RCB would go after the leggie in the auctions. There was no discussion about retaining Chahal.
Talking to TOI, Chahal said:
“I am emotionally attached to RCB. I never thought I would play for some other team. People and fans on social media are still asking me ‘why did you ask for this much money?’. The reality is that Mike Hesson called me and said ‘Listen Yuzi, there are three retentions’ (Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Mohammed Siraj).
He added:
“They didn’t ask me whether I wanted to be retained or tell me if they wanted to retain me. They just talked about the three retentions and I was told that – ‘we will go for you in the auction’. Neither was I asked about money nor did I get any offer of retention.”
