Yuzvendra Chahal secured his second career hat-trick in the IPL while playing for Punjab Kings against Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday, April 30, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. With this feat, he joined an elite group of Indian bowlers who have claimed two or more hat-tricks in the tournament’s history.
Chahal had a challenging start, giving away 23 runs in his initial two overs without taking a wicket. However, PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer handed him the ball for the 19th over. Though MS Dhoni smashed a six on the first delivery, Chahal responded swiftly by dismissing him on the very next ball.
Deepak Hooda walked in and managed a couple of runs on his first delivery. On the fourth ball of the over, Hooda was caught at point by Priyansh Arya. Chahal then clean-bowled his fellow Haryana cricketer, Anshul Kamboj. He completed his hat-trick by removing Noor Ahmad, who was caught at long on, thus taking four wickets in the over.
To mark the milestone, Chahal celebrated in his signature fashion by striking the same pose that had turned into a viral meme back in 2019. You can watch the video here:

Punjab Kings Set Target of 191 Runs in 20 Overs Against Chennai Super Kings
After being asked to bat first, CSK posted a total of 190 runs in 19.2 overs. Sam Curran led the innings with a commanding 88 off 47 balls, supported by Dewald Brevis, who contributed 32 runs off 26 deliveries. Despite a promising position, CSK’s momentum was halted by Yuzvendra Chahal‘s exceptional 19th over, where he claimed four wickets, including a hat-trick, turning the tide in PBKS’s favor.
In response, PBKS commenced their chase with a solid foundation. Prabhsimran Singh scored 54 off 36 balls, and captain Shreyas Iyer anchored the innings with a crucial 72 off 41 deliveries. Despite some late wickets causing tension, PBKS reached the target, finishing at 194/6 in 19.4 overs, securing the win with two balls to spare.
