Punjab Kings beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 16 runs in the IPL 2025 match held at Mullanpur, defending what will go down as the lowest-ever total in IPL history. The Ajinkya Rahane-led side was at a promising position of 62 for 2 at one time, but then the match turned upside down due to a four-wicket haul by Yuzvendra Chahal, who brought KKR down to a very shocking 95. As for PBKS, Marco Jansen chipped in as well with his fine bowling performance, recording 3 for 17.
Harshit Rana’s return figures were 3 for 25 as KKR bundled PBKS under a total of 111. Varun Chakaravarthy and Sunil Narine both took two wickets each. This Shreyas Iyer-led side starts well, but then Harshit hits PBKS with a double-wicket over. KKR continued to heap pressure on PBKS, even bowling the side to a very low total. It was a thrilling win for PBKS, with a magical show by their players on the ground.
Yuzvendra Chahal (PBKS):
The star of the show was the leg-spinner Chahal, who took four wickets in his first three overs and triggered the collapse that eventually saw KKR’s downfall. Chahal will be remembered for his spell for a long time and showcased why he is one of the most feared bowlers in the IPL.
Shreyas Iyer (PBKS):
The PBKS captain had a forgettable match, getting out for a duck against the team he formerly played for. Iyer’s batting has been extremely patchy this season, and he would be hoping to regain his form soon.
Ajinkya Rahane (KKR):
The KKR’s captain looked classy with the bat and built up a good partnership with Angkrish Raghuvanshi. But he could not tip the balance in KKR’s favor after Chahal castled him, thus costing the team dearly. His captaincy and batting were pivotal in KKR’s success in IPL 2025.
