Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw failed to make the cut in the Indian squad for the Ireland tour. The BCCI announced on Wednesday announced a 17-member for the T20Is starting on June 26 in Dublin.

The likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, etc will be busy with the preparations for the fifth (rescheduled) test. In their absence, All-rounder Hardik Pandya was named as the skipper of the team. Meanwhile, Ruturaj Gaikwad earned his maiden India call-up for the tour. However, Prithvi Shaw’s omission became a talking point as fans expressed their disappointment.

The 22-year-old, who is leading the Mumbai team, on Thursday, gave his team a solid start in the second innings. He played a fine knock of 64 runs off 71 balls in the Ranji Trophy semi-finals against Uttar Pradesh. His knock included twelve boundaries and came at the strike rate of 90.14.

Prithvi Shaw last played for the Indian team in July 2021 on India’s tour of Sri Lanka in the limited-overs series. He has 189 runs in the ODI format for India. In the lone T20I match that, he got out on a duck.

Meanwhile, let’s take a look at how Twitter reacted to Prithvi Shaw’s omission from the Indian squad:
