What Will Happen If Rain Washes Out MI vs DC IPL 2025 Clash?

Mumbai Indians (MI) are set to face Delhi Capitals (DC) in Match 63 of IPL 2025 at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday, May 21. This clash holds significant importance in the playoff race. Currently, MI sit fourth with 14 points from 12 games, while DC are just behind in fifth place with 13 points from the same number of matches.

A win for Mumbai would secure their spot in the playoffs, taking them to 16 points and eliminating Delhi, even if DC go on to beat Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their final match. Conversely, if DC win both their remaining games — against MI and PBKS — they will advance to the playoffs with 17 points.

If DC beat MI but lose to PBKS, their qualification hopes will hinge on MI also losing to Punjab. In that case, DC would finish with 15 points, while MI would stay on 14, allowing Delhi to go through. Both teams are scheduled to face PBKS in their final league games in Jaipur and DC on May 24 and MI on May 26.

Should rain disrupt Wednesday’s match and lead to a no result, both teams will earn one point. MI would then move to 15 points, and DC to 14. If both sides win their final league matches, MI will qualify with 17 points, and DC will finish with 16. However, if one wins and the other loses, the team defeating PBKS will likely secure the final playoff spot.
