Former cricketer Danish Kaneria recently called Virat Kohli a selfless cricketer, while criticizing Pakistan captain Babar Azam. He says that Kohli has shown support for the tactics and plans of Rohit Sharma after the former’s removal from captaincy.

He also points out how people wanted to sack him after his early exit from the T20 World Cup in UAE and when he was going through a lean patch. While speaking on his YouTube channel he said:

“When it comes to being selfless, there is no one like Virat Kohli. The team lost the World Cup under his captaincy, and he was made the scapegoat after that. Many raised questions about his place in the team. But he didn’t give up. He gave his full support to the new captain and played at the number he asked him to.”

Virat Kohli regained his form after the Asia Cup 2022 and is seen back to his best for the country. Since the continental tournament, he has scored almost 700 in this format and has crossed the milestone of 4000 T20I runs becoming the first person to do so. In the recently concluded T20 World Cup he was the highest run-getter, scoring 296 runs in 6 innings.

“Babar Azam has been stubborn about not giving up his opening spot” – Danish Kaneria

Danish Kaneria has slammed Babar for being stubborn and his unwillingness to come down the order for the team’s benefit. He added:

“Babar Azam has been stubborn about not giving up his opening spot. The same happened when he was with Karachi Kings too. He is adamant about this because he cannot bat in the middle order. His stubbornness is only doing harm to Pakistani cricket because of the slow starts.”

Babar Azam had an underwhelming tournament scoring 124 runs in the tournament at a strike rate of less than a ball.
