All-rounder Hardik Pandya expressed that Team India’s road map for the 2024 T20 World Cup begins from the New Zealand tour. Hardik will be leading the Indian T20I squad on the tour, in the three-match series starting from November 18 in Wellington. He expressed that going forward a lot of players will get opportunities to establish themselves in the Indian team.

Team India suffered a semi-final exit from the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia recently. They lost to England by 10 wickets, failing to defend 170 runs at the Adelaide Oval. Following the conclusion of the T20 World Cup, the Indian team will be keen to overcome the failure at the mega-event. Speaking about India’s loss at the T20 World Cup, Hardik Pandya said to the reporters, as quoted by India Today,

“Yes, we all know there is the disappointment of the World Cup but we are professionals and we need to cope with it. How we cope with our success we cope up with our failures and move forward and look forward to get better rectify our mistakes.”

“Yes, the next T20 WC is almost two years so we have time (to unearth new talent). A lot of cricket will be played and a lot of people will get enough chances. The road map starts from now. But it’s too fresh right now. We have a lot of time so we will sit down and have conversations on those grounds. Right now it’s making sure that the boys enjoy playing here. We will talk about the future later,” he added.

Team India’s senior players, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and others have been rested for the New Zealand tour. In their absence, youngsters have been given an opportunity by the selectors. Team India skipper Hardik Pandya expressed that the youngsters also have ample experience at the International level. He added that he is keen to lead the new bunch of guys against New Zealand.

“The main boys are not here but at the same time the talent which the guys who are already here, they have also been playing for one-and-a-half, two years now. They have had ample chances and enough time in international cricket to express themselves and show what they have. Very excited for them, new bunch of guys, new energy and excitement,” said Hardik Pandya.
