Career
Matheesha Pathirana, a young and promising fast bowler started his domestic cricket career in August 2021 while he made his international debut only in 2022. He plays all formats of domestic cricket and is also in the Sri Lankan T20I team at international level. He plays for the Nondescripts Cricket Club at home but is also an essential player for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) during the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Domestic Career
Pathirana’s domestic career started when he was picked in the SLC Grey’s team for 2021 SLC Invitational T20 league. The same year, he made his T20 debut playing for SLC Greys on August 22. His wonderful display during the league earned him a place in the Sri Lanka under-19 squad for the 2022 Cricket World Cup in West Indies.
International Career
Pathirana made his ODI debut on June 2, 2023, and achieved the milestone of taking wicket number one when he removed Rahmat Shah against Afghanistan. In his ODI career, he has played 12 matches and took 17 wickets at an average of 36.24. Moreover, he made his T20I debut on August 27, 2022, facing Afghanistan.
