Before the five-match T20I series in the Caribbean, Hardik Pandya met up with legendary former West Indies players, Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard, creating a memorable moment for cricket fans. The trio’s gathering showcased their prowess as outstanding all-rounders in the shortest format of the game, with Bravo playfully questioning the possibility of having all three of them play for the same team.
Hardik Pandya has always expressed his love for the vibrant Caribbean culture, and his friendship with Kieron Pollard dates back to their time together at Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The duo played pivotal roles in MI’s triumphs during their dominance from 2015 to 2020. While Pollard has retired from the IPL after the 2022 edition and Pandya has moved to the Gujarat Titans (GT), their bond remains unyielding.
Notably, Kieron Pollard led the MI New York team in the inaugural edition of the Major League Cricket (MLC) in the United States of America. Though he missed the playoffs due to injury, Pollard added another title to his illustrious career after the team emerged victorious against the Seattle Orcas in the final.
Dwayne Bravo also took part in the MLC, representing the Texas Super Kings (TSK). As both Bravo and Pollard emerged victorious in the league, they now share the record of having 16 titles apiece in T20 cricket.
“We don’t ask for luxury but we need some basic necessities taken care of” -Hardik Pandya Complains About The Poor Facilities In The Caribbean
Prior to the ODI series, Bravo was seen at the Trinidad airport with his son, welcoming the Indian team. He engaged in conversations with several players, including skipper Rohit Sharma, exemplifying the camaraderie between players from different teams.
In the series decider at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad, Bravo led from the front with a half-century, contributing significantly to India’s convincing 200-run victory. The Men in Blue demonstrated their dominance, setting the stage for the upcoming T20I series opener against West Indies at the same venue on August 3.
During the post-match presentation, Hardik Pandya candidly expressed his discontent with the lack of basic facilities during the tour. He urged West Indies Cricket to take note of the issues and ensure that touring teams are provided with essential necessities, even if luxury is not expected.
As the T20I series approaches, Team India’s squad features some new faces, including Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tilak Varma, while West Indies has recalled Shai Hope and Oshane Thomas. The fans eagerly await an exciting clash between these two cricketing powerhouses, and with the camaraderie and talent on display, the series promises to be a thrilling spectacle for cricket enthusiasts worldwide.
