Team India cricketer Tilak Varma pulled off a terrific fielding effort in the first T20I against West Indies on Thursday, August 3 at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad. He took a great running catch in the first innings to dismiss Johnson Charles cheaply to push the hosts on the back foot early in the match.
Tilak Varma is playing his debut International match for Team India. He was handed the cap before the start of the play by Indian skipper Hardik Pandya. He made an instant impact in the game, pulling off a brilliant catch. The incident took place in the eighth over of the West Indies innings. Kuldeep Yadav bowled a tossed-up googly to Johnson Charles.
The West Indies batter went for the slog sweep. However, miscued the shot and the ball went high up, not a long distance. Tilak Varma covered a great ground, running 10-15 metres to his left. He then dived to hang on to a fantastic catch to dismiss Johnson Charles. The batter had to walk back to the pavilion for just three runs.
