Former India skipper and BCCI President Sourav Ganguly wants to see Hardik Pandya make a comeback in Test cricket for Team India. He expressed that India has a lot of great talented players, who have the potential to make it big in red-ball cricket. He added that all-rounder Hardik Pandya will bring balance to the Indian test team.

Hardik Pandya made his Test debut in 2017 and has played eleven matches for the country. He has scored 532 runs, including a century and four fifties. He also has 17 wickets, with a 5/28 as his best bowling figures in a Test innings. However, frequent injuries have hampered his bowling abilities in Test cricket. He last played a Test in 2018 and has been out of the team since then.
Speaking to Sports Today, Sourav Ganguly said, “I hope Hardik Pandya is listening. I want to see him play Test cricket, especially in these conditions.”

Former India cricketer Sourav Ganguly expressed that it is not the right time to think beyond senior players like Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara. His comments came after India’s loss against Australia in the World Test Championship final. There have been speculations about a revamp in Test cricket bringing in youngsters.

Sourav Ganguly stated that India has an abundance of talented players to play in red-ball cricket. Speaking to Sports Today, he said,

“Let’s not jump to conclusions due to just one loss, India will always have talent. And I don’t think it is time to look beyond Virat (Kohli) or (Cheteshwar) Pujara. Virat is just 34. India has enormous reserves. When you look at some of the performances. I don’t consider IPL performances if we are sticking to Test cricket.”

“In domestic cricket, there are some fantastic players and you will only find out when you give them opportunities. Whether it be Jaiswal or Patidar, Abhimanyu Easwaran from Bengal scores a lot of runs,” added Sourav Ganguly.
