Team India opener KL Rahul’s poor run in the 2022 T20 World Cup continued against the Netherlands on Thursday, October 27 at the Sydney Cricket Ground. He once again failed to make an impact and had to walk back to the pavilion early in the innings. Rahul managed only nine runs off twelve deliveries, during his stay at the crease.
Team India skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first. However, they were dealt with an early blow as KL Rahul was dismissed. Paul van Meekeren bowled a full delivery which angled into the right-hander. KL Rahul tried to flick the ball but missed it. The umpire raised his finger to signal out, as the ball rapped the batter on the pads.
KL Rahul discussed with his opening partner Rohit Sharma, before deciding not to review the decision. However, replays showed that the ball would have missed the stumps, and Rahul would have survived. The fans were disappointed with the opener’s decision and his second failure in the tournament.

KL Rahul also could do much against Pakistan in the first match of the T20 World Cup on Sunday, October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. He was dismissed for just four runs off eight deliveries by Naseem Shah. This year, the right-handed batter averages 29 in 12 T20Is.
Let’s take a look at how fans reacted to KL Rahul’s dismissal:
KL Rahul continues to confound. Struggled to find the gaps. And then nailed in front of the stumps by van Meekeren for 9 from 12 balls. #T20WorldCup #INDvNED

Two minutes silence for everyone who thought KL Rahul will produce a masterclass against Netherlands.

Kl Rahul will take a review when it's plumb, but won't take it when it's missing #T20WorldCup2022 #T20WorldCup #INDvNED

Kl Rahul not going for DRS just showed how short he is in confidence at the moment… He didn't want to be at the crease..🤷@klrahul @BCCI

Not reviewing the Rahul dismissal was woeful decision-making. At best, it was an umpire's call. Shows how we still haven't understood the basics of DRS. #KLRahul #INDvsNED @nikhilsahni_ @rajat101

We want to keep improving no matter what the results are: Rohit Sharma

“Winning a game like that takes your confidence to the next level but at the same time, we understand we need to stay calm, just the first game of the tournament, and plenty of things to happen. We have to calm ourselves and look forward to this game. We want to keep improving no matter what the results are, it always keeps you in good stead when you are thinking like that.”
