Cheteshwar Pujara’s style of batting is always the center of discussion for cricket fans. He is arguably the most reliable batsman for team India in test cricket, his ability to play long innings and patience level is unmatchable, he has helped team India come out of tough situations many times in the longest format of the game. Despite achieving a lot in test cricket he is criticized for his slow approach towards the game.
Indian Opening duo of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill set the perfect stage for Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, and other batsmen. The duo had a 62 run partnership which was ended by Kyle Jamieson, as he dismissed Rohit Sharma and soon another opener Shubman Gill was dismissed by Left-arm pacer Neil Wagner.
Pujara came at number 3 and started defending brilliant deliveries by Kiwi Pacers, with his patient and the slow approach he finally scored a run after playing 6 overs or 36 deliveries, the ball was smashed towards the boundary for four to Neil Wagner. Pujara finished his innings at the score of 8 from 54 deliveries including two boundaries, Trent Boult was the one to dismiss modern-day”WALL ”.
Why is Pujara an important cog in Indian Test team?
•Well, he's very patient.
•He leaves the ball outside the off-stump.
•Bowlers bowling wide of off-stump get frustrated, so they bowl at him. He asks the bowlers to bowl at him😜 & he plays the ball late.1/4 pic.twitter.com/0GnmvXN9FO

A Sri Lankan cricket fan tried to troll Pujara for his batting against the Kiwis, as he said Pujara getting off the mark in 36 deliveries is a “tribute” to India’s horrible show at Adelaide against Australia in the iconic Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21, which India won eventually by defeating mighty Kangaroos.
“Pujara got off the mark in the 36th delivery as a tribute to their “36 all out” in the Adelaide Test inns. #Cricket”, wrote Daniel Alexander.
Once this tweet was seen by India and Cheteshwar Pujara fans, they bombarded Alexander with savage and mean replies to shut him up.
It was a tribute to when Akila Dhananjaya got hit for 36 runs in an over by Pollard. #INDvsNZ #WTCFinal2021 #Southhampton #pujara #NZvsIND https://t.co/xYkODxDzdG

India-New Zealand’s battle for the ultimate glory
The first-ever World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand at Ageas Bowl Southampton is a historical event. Day 1 of the match was washed out due to rain however the match finally started on day 2, looking at the conditions in England the extra reserve day kept by ICC is most likely to come in use to find out the inaugural World Test Champion.
India are currently well placed at 146/3 at the end of the 3rd day’s play with Virat Kohli (44*) and Ajinkya Rahane (29*) holding guards.
