Team India batter Virat Kohli expressed that he needs to elevate his game against Australia in the World Test Championship final, which is all set to take place from June 7 to June 11 at The Oval in London. The veteran batter is training with the team in England for the summit clash.

Virat Kohli has a great record in Test cricket against Australia, scoring 1979 runs at an average of 48.26. He has slammed eight centuries against them in the format. The right-handed batter will be India’s key player in the World Test Championship final. Speaking on Star Sports, ahead of the match, Virat Kohli said,

“I’ve got to raise and elevate my game against Australia. They’re very competitive, and their skill set is very high. My motivation increases even more now, I’ve to give my best against them.”

Virat Kohli also spoke about the intense rivalry between India and Australia. He expressed that it has now turned into respect between the two teams, with India winning the last two Border Gavaskar Trophy series in Australia. He said,

“In the beginning, the rivalry was seen between India and Australia. But after we won the two-Test series in Australia, the rivalry has turned into respect. Now when you play against Australia, The respect is visible, that they beat us back to back in Tests”

Adaptability is the key: Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli further spoke about the challenges of playing a one-off Test match. He expressed that adaptability is the key in such conditions, and the team that adjusts betters, wins the match. The veteran batter also shared the toughest part of playing in England. He said,

“This is just one match in WTC Final, whenever the team is able to adjust and adapt the conditions and pitch will win the match. Adaptability is the key. And This is the beauty of WTC Final.”

“The toughest part about in seaming and swing conditions in England is about choosing the ball you need to hit. Playing with solid technique. The balance is very important what ball to leave and what all to defend, what ball to hit.” he added.
