All the hype around the WTC Final has somewhat come to a standstill owing to the dogged rain that has dampened the spirits of the cricket fans around the world. The first session of the World Test Championship (WTC) final was washed out and as per the latest news from Southampton, it’s very unlikely that we’ll be able to see action on Day 1.

Although there is a reserve day in place for the final, the weather forecast for the next few days doesn’t necessarily inspire confidence in regards to witnessing a full game. With nothing much to do on the cricketing front, there has been a lot of action going around on social media.

Michael Vaughan, who had recently tweeted that he fancies New Zealand to beat India in the final, was under the pump again from the Indian fans. This time around, however, he was clearly poking around for some response, and it was heeded to in kind by the Twitterati.

Vaughan, who was just trying to have some fun, tweeted:

“I see India have been saved by the weather …. #WorldTestChampionship,” he said.

As expected, Michael Vaughan faced the wrath of the Indian fans, with several mentioning England’s 2019 World Cup win based on boundary count as a retort.

Michael Vaughan backs New Zealand to win the WTC final

Earlier, Michael Vaughan had also predicted New Zealand to beat India and win the WTC Final. He had tweeted about it after the Kiwis comprehensively defeated England in a two-match Test series. Interestingly, the visitors had rested six of their preferred players and still managed to win the game easily.

Looking at all the skills New Zealand possessed, he had predicted for them to beat India.

“NZ are a high class team .. Read the situation with the Bat in hand, skilful with the ball & catch brilliantly .. Really fancy them to beat India next week,” Vaughan had tweeted.
