Gaikwad informed the board that he won’t be able to join the team before June 5 because he is getting married the following week.

Ruturaj Gaikwad informed the cricket board that he will be getting married on June 3–4; as a result, Mumbai opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was added to the India squad for the World Test Championship (WTC) final as a standby player.

Jaiswal will be traveling to London in a few days because the team management has asked him to start practicing with the red ball and he already has a UK visa.

This season, Jaiswal has performed superbly. He scored 625 runs in 14 games while playing for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, and 404 runs in five games in the Ranji Trophy.

Gaikwad was initially added by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as a backup opener for the WTC Final, in which India will play Australia at The Oval on June 7. Gaikwad informed the BCCI that he could join the team after June 5, but Rahul Dravid sought a replacement.

Gaikwad informed us that Jaiswal wouldn’t be able to fly because of his marriage, so Jaiswal would join the Indian team. After June 5, he would be eligible to join the squad.

Rahul Dravid, the team’s coach, then called and asked the selectors to choose a replacement. Consequently, Jaiswal will soon take a flight to London, a BCCI official told The Indian Express.

In contrast, Suryakumar Yadav will fly out on May 30 with Mohammed Shami, Shubman Gill, and Ravindra Jadeja, who will play in the IPL final on Sunday. Both Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, and Ishan Kishen will leave for London on May 28.

A portion of the Indian team has already arrived in London and has started training there.

According to Jay Shah, secretary of the BCCI, the ICC ODI World Cup schedule will be revealed during the ICC World Test Championship final. However, the members of the Asian Cricket Council will decide the fate of the Asia Cup.

A committee will be formed to oversee the Women’s Premier League and the ODI World Cup, it was decided at the Indian board’s Special General Body Meeting held in Ahmedabad. Each office-bearer will be in charge of a specific venue for the ICC Cricket World Cup. All of the metro areas are being considered as potential tournament locations, according to Shah.

In relation to the upcoming Women’s Premier League, Shah stated, “We will talk with the broadcasters and choose a window. Before March 2024, we’ll be gazing out a window.”

The Indian Board has set up a system where each state association will appoint a strength and conditioning coach as well as a sports science and sports medicine team in order to address player injury concerns. A panel from the National Cricket Academy will interview the candidates.

The board is currently in contact with England and New Zealand. Tours are also being planned for the India “A” team.
