Veteran Team India leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has recently shared a picture with other cricketers like Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Ishan Kishan on his Twitter handle. The picture was taken at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
While they all are more or less struggling to cement their places in the playing XI, the picture shares the great camaraderie among them as well. While sharing the picture on his Twitter account, Yuzvendra Chahal captioned it as “Super squad”.

Meanwhile, both Axar Patel and veteran left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the ongoing Test series in South Africa. Off-spinner Jayant Yadav, who played the Mumbai Test against New Zealand got the chance for the South Africa Tests as a back-up spinner to the veteran, Ravichandran Ashwin.
Meanwhile, no official confirmation has come yet about the fitness test, it remains uncertain whether Axar Patel will get a chance in the squad for the ODIs in South Africa, which starts on January 19. While the squad for the ODI series in South Africa is expected to be announced in a day or two, it will be interesting to see what is in store for Rohit Sharma, who has been recovering from a hamstring injury.
India beat South Africa to go 1-0 up in the series
On the other hand, Team India registered a convincing win against South Africa in the first Test in Centurion. They defeated the Proteas by 113 runs to go 1-0 up in the three-match Test series.
Captain Virat Kohli showered praise on the boys for their superlative show with both bat and the ball.
“Just the way these guys bowl together, it’s something that’s been the hallmark of our team getting results from situations which seem difficult,” Kohli said at the presentation ceremony. “Huge credit to them, not just for this Test match but for where Indian Test cricket is for the last 4-5 years.”
“We just spoke about it in the change room.. the fact that he [Bumrah] didn’t bowl much at all in the first innings probably allowed the opposition to get 40-50 extra runs. We probably could’ve had a larger lead and the game wouldn’t have gone that close that it did on the last day. And that’s exactly what we figured out in the second innings as well – having a guy like him to run in and bowl along with others who are so good with the skillsets,” he further added.
