By hitting David Willey for a six in the 3rd over of lone T20 match against England yesterday night at Chester-le- Street, Chris Gayle became the first batsman to hit 100 sixes in T20 Internationals. He is one of the rockstars in a T20 format with West Indies and the franchises all over the world. In yesterday’s match, Gayle scored 40 in 21 balls smashing England bowlers providing a great start for World T20 championships adding 77 runs for the first wicket with Evin Lewis.  West Indies won the match by 21 runs dismissing England for 156 in 19.3 overs.

Chris Gayle made his T20 international debut for West Indies against New Zealand in 2006 at Auckland. Since then he has played 52 T20 matches (49 innings), scoring a total of 1577 runs with the best score of 117 in the opening match of binaural World T20 Cup which took place in 2007. His ability to hit big sixes with great force makes him one of the dangerous batsmen in the shortest format.

He was a part of the winning team which won World T20 title twice, once in 2012 and the other in 2016 held in India. At present, Chris Gayle has 103 sixes in total. It is a big achievement for such a top quality player who can change the course of the game with his power hitting. Chris Gayle scored 222 runs in 6 matches during the 2012 edition of World T20 held in Sri Lanka.

Chris Gayle is known for his six hitting and has played the key part in helping their side win two World T20 titles. He has played for 22 franchises in a T20 format all over the world. In the recently concluded IPL 10, Gayle completed 10,000 runs.

At the present moment, Gayle has a total of 10571 runs in 309 matches ( 303 innings) with the best total of 175*. He is one of the destructive players in T20 format and could play another 2 to 3 years cricket in this format.

The other batsmen with most sixes in T20 internationals are, Brendon McCullum with 91 sixes, Shane Watson with 83, David Warner with 74 and Shahid Afridi with 73.
