Team India is likely to lock horns with India A in a four-day match in the build-up to the overseas Test series when the two sides travel to England later this year. The game will be played at the County Ground inĀ  Northamptonshire in July later this year. The exact dates of the match will be revealed later.

Virat Kohli & Co is scheduled to tour England in August and September to play five Test matches, beginning with the opening game at Nottingham on August 4. The second (August 12-16) and fourth Tests (September 2-6) will be held in London, while the third (August 25-29) and fifth (September 10-14) Tests are scheduled in Leeds and Manchester.

Northamptonshire County Cricket Club stated that the world’s finest cricketers will be in action during the summer. They also confirmed that Virat Kohli & Co will play against India A in a warm-up game leading to the all-important Test series.

“Some of the world’s finest international cricketers will be on show at The County Ground this summer as we welcome India and their A,” Northamptonshire County Cricket Club said in a statement late on Wednesday.

“Ahead of India’s five-test series against England in August, Virat Kohli’s side take on India A in a four-day warmup fixture that promises to be a showcase of high-quality cricket,” it added.

Meanwhile, prior to that series, England will face the Asian giants in a series across formats starting from February 5. Both teams will lock horns in a four-match Test series as a part of the ICC World Test Championship followed by 5 T20Is and 3 ODIs. Chennai will host the first two Tests before both teams move to Ahmedabad for the last two Tests and the five T20Is.

Following their stay in Ahmedabad, both teams will shift their base to Pune for the final leg of the tour where they play three ODIs before returning to England.
