Dinesh Karthik after leading India to a memorable win in the finals of Nidahas Trophy 2018 against Bangladesh, he talked about 29 runs off just 8 balls to snatch victory out of nowhere. When Dinesh Karthik came to bat, India required 34 runs in last 2 overs. He smashed 22 runs of Rubel Hossain over which changed the course of the game.

Bangladesh had posted 166 for 8 after a poor start in the powerplay overs. Sabbir Rahman scored 77 runs, Mahmudllah 21 and Mehidy Hasan quickfire 19 helped Tigers to make a decent total. India began well with Rohit Sharma playing a captain’s knock of 56 runs. Manish Pandey struggled to time the ball scoring 28 off 27 balls. Vijay Shankar was batting for the first time in this tournament, made 17 off 18 runs.

The wicketkeeper-batsman from Tamil Nadu credited the support for backing him and did all the hard work in the last 1 year. Team India won a thrilling final by 4 wickets which shattered the dreams of Bangladesh. Bangladesh has lost to India in all 8 T20I’s both of them played so far. It was an innings of the life from Dinesh Karthik who came at number 7. He did well in the tournament not getting out once.

The Indian team had a great season starting from the ODI series against Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka at home winning all of them.  Then Men in Blue created history by winning their maiden ODI series on South Africa shores after 25 years and also won the T20I series by 2-1. India won the third test at Johannesburg on a tough pitch which will be rated one of the best wins on overseas conditions.

Dinesh Karthik and Pant were the wicketkeepers for this tri-series. Dinesh Karthik was given the role of wicketkeeping. With the major overseas tours to England, Australia coming up, the Tamil Nadu batsman could bat at number 4 in ODI’s. Dinesh Karthik played one of his best innings and might go as second back up wicketkeeper for World Cup 2019.

Karthik talked about despite the finals between India and Bangladesh, there were plenty of people supporting. It was an amazing atmosphere and we did a lot of hard work, ending the season on high feels great.

Most of the players will be involved in the 11th season starting from 7th April.
