Murali Vijay has been a pillar for the Indian Cricket team in overseas test matches for a while. With his solid defensive technique and making the new ball old makes him a reliable opener.

On the previous tour of England in 2014, Murali Vijay was the star for India with solid defensive technique on tough conditions. His performances in the first two test matches were outstanding. In the 2^nd innings at Lords, Vijay scored fighting 95 which helped India to set up a tough target for England. India won a historic test match at Lords.

With 5 test matches coming up against England from 1^st August, this provides a chance for Vijay to prove that he is one of the solid batsmen for team India in test matches and give the team a good start to the team on his last tour of England.
