5 Indian Players To Look Out For In The T20I Series Against West Indies

The Indian Cricket Team will take on West Indies in the three-match T20I series starting from 3rd August 2019. When these two teams met in a T20 series last, India defeated West Indies by 2-1 at home.

After a heartbreaking loss in the semi-finals of World Cup 2019, the Indian selectors have given chances to youngsters who performed reasonably well in IPL or India A circuit. It promises to be a cracking series between these two teams.

The team will be led by Virat Kohli. Other experienced players included in the team are Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan who have done brilliantly for Team India. Keeping in mind of World T20 in 2020, it is a chance for the youngsters to prove their mettle and perform to their best against a top-quality T20 side.

1. Rishabh Pant

The explosive left-handed batsman Rishabh Pant will be looking to cement his place in the T20I squad after MS Dhoni decided to stay away from the game for 2 months. He made his debut for India on 1st February 2017. With MS Dhoni in the squad, Pant has played only 15 matches and scored 233 runs from 15 matches (14 innings) with the best score of 58.

Pant had a great season for Delhi Capitals in IPL 12 with 488 runs from 16 matches (16 innings) with 3 half-centuries. He played a key role in helping DC reaching the playoffs stage. With MS Dhoni not in the squad, it is a great chance for the young wicketkeeper to play his natural game and show his class to the world.

2. Krunal Pandya

The left-arm all-rounder Krunal Pandya made his T20I debut for India against West Indies on 4th November 2018. Since then has played 11 matches ( 5 innings) and scored 70 runs with the best score of 26.

In the bowling department, Pandya has bowled in 11 matches ( 11 innings) and taken 11 wickets with a high economy of 8.27 runs per over. His best figures in T20I has been 4/36. With Hardik Pandya not in the squad, it is a chance for his brother Krunal to showcase his talent and create an impact with both and ball.

Krunal Pandya had a quiet season for Mumbai Indians in IPL 12 with both bat and ball. He scored 183 runs from 16 matches and played quick-fire knocks which helped the team to win. With the ball, Pandya took 12 wickets from 16 matches with an economy of 7.28 runs per over.

3. Deepak Chahar

Deepak Chahar had a brilliant outing for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 12. He was one of the key wicket-takers for CSK with 22 wickets from 17 matches ( 17 innings) with an economy of 7.47 runs per over. Chahar picked wickets with the new ball.

Chahar has played only 1 T20I against England in July 2018 and gave away 37 runs with 1 wicket. With no Jasprit Bumrah in the squad, Deepak Chahar might get a chance to play in the XI.
Deepak Chahar can swing the ball and can trouble the best batsmen in the world. With the World T20 in mind, he could create an impact on the matches.

4. Rahul Chahar

Rahul Chahar impressed one and all during the 2019 IPL season for Mumbai Indians. He took 15 wickets from 16 matches (16 innings) with an economy of 6.76 runs per over. His best figures in IPL 2019 was 3/19.

Chahar was impressive with his control picking wickets and not allowing the batsmen to score runs easily. With no Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal in the squad, the young leg spinner will be the lead spinner. In the West Indies A tour, Chahar did well by picking 4 wickets from 2 matches.

The West Indies T20I series is an ideal chance for Rahul Chahar to impress and stake a claim in the squad in the shorter formats..

5. Navdeep Saini

The tall right-arm fast bowler from Delhi, Navdeep Saini has been also included in the 15 man squad for T20I series against West Indies. He impressed one and all with his speed during IPL season 12. Playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Saini took 11 wickets from 13 matches with an economy of 8.27 runs per over. His best figures in the tournament were 2/24.

In the recently concluded West Indies A tour, Saini picked 5/46 which helped India A registered a thumping win. He can surprise the batsmen with speed. This is an ideal chance for the Indian team to try him and make him ready for World T20 2020.
Navdeep Saini had a great season for Delhi in Ranji Trophy 2017/18 season with 34 wickets from 8 matches.
