Virat Kohli is one of the most fittest cricketers going around. Ever since becoming the Indian skipper back in 2017, Kohli has focused on increasing the fitness levels of his teammates. Seeing him, a number of his Indian teammates improved their fitness levels as well. The BCCI introduced the Yo-Yo test after Kohli became the captain of India wanting the players to be at the best of their fitness levels. Kohli scored 19 in his Yo-Yo test which became the benchmark for all the other Indian players to improve upon.

Meanwhile, there have been a number of other international cricketers who have had a better Yo-Yo score than Virat Kohli. We take a look at 5 such international cricketers.

Sir Alastair Cook- 22.3

Former England skipper Alastair Cook registered a Yo-Yo score of 22.3 which is way better than Virat Kohli. A veteran of 156 Tests for England, Cook scored over 12000 Test runs and faced 26,562 deliveries. His score of 22.3 came back in 2018 when he gave a Yo-Yo Test and put his teammates to shame. Cook’s score of 22.3 was the highest for any England player.

Shan Masood- 22.1

Pakistan opener Shan Masood scored 22.1 in his Yo-Yo Test before his Test century at Old Trafford against England. He bated for more than two days scored 156 off 319 balls and displaying some incredible fitness standards in the process. 

That becomes all the more evident from a quick look through his yo-yo test scores. Back in 2017, Masood registered 22.1- the best score in Pakistan’s all-time ranks.

Michael Clarke- 20.1

Former Australian skipper Michael Clarke was one of the best fielders of his era. He played alongside Ricky Ponting and fielded at covers not allowing the ball to get past his hands. He was also very agile on the field and ran across the turf quickly. 

Clarke scored a commendable 20.1 in that test- second only behind off-spinner Steve O’Keefe, 20.2, and continues to be Australia’s second-best performer on that parameter to this day.

Kagiso Rabada- 19.2

The South African pacer is one of the supreme athletes in the modern era. Among the best pacers in current cricket, he is very athletic on the field as well. Rabada is among the top 10 bowlers in ODI rankings and not very far in Test and T20I rankings.

As per a report released in 2016, Rabada averages a score of 19.2 on the test, jointly tied with AB de Villiers and Dale Steyn as the highest for any South African cricketer.

Beth Langston- 19.1

England women’s cricketer Beth Langston is last on the list of players with better Yo-Yo ranks than Virat Kohli. On 9 June 2018, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) YouTube channel premiered a video featuring the women’s team players in training action. In that footage, Beth covered a total of a whopping 2080 meters- summing up her yo-yo test scores to be a staggering 19.1.

It was a world-record moment for the then 25-year-old Beth, as she had tied with female American soccer player, Kelly O’Hara as both of them scored 19.1.
