Six Pakistan cricketers, who recently arrived in New Zealand and was in managed isolation in Christchurch, have tested COVID-19 positive. As a result, Pakistan team’s exemption to train while in managed isolation has been put on hold until investigations have been completed.
Meanwhile, two of these six results have been deemed historical, while four have been confirmed as new. Thus; six of those cricketers will be moved to the quarantine arm of the managed isolation facility in line with protocols governing the squad’s entry into New Zealand.

Incidentally, all Pakistan cricketers tested COVID-19 negative on all four occasions they underwent the test before leaving Lahore. On the other hand, separately, New Zealand Cricket has also been made aware that some members of the Pakistan team have contravened managed isolation protocols.

Since their arrival, several team members had been seen on CCTV breaching managed isolation rules, despite clear, consistent and detailed communication of expected behaviours while in the facility. The team as a whole has been issued with a final warning, the ministry statement said.
Pakistan Cricket Team’s first match against New Zealand is a T20 at Eden Park on December 18.
Speaking about the West Indies contingent, who open their series against the Black Caps with a T20 at Auckland’s Eden Park on Friday night, also broke quarantine regulations. Their training privileges were denied after repeatedly breaking the managed isolation rules.
The cricketers were seen mingling in hall areas and sharing foods which are against the protocols in line. They were also caught in CCTV footages leaving their rooms outside of allocated time slots.
